杠精

Argumentative [ˌɑːrɡjuˈmentətɪv] 意为好辩的，争辩的。

由argue（动词）→argument（名词）→ Argumentative（形容词）进化而来。

[敲黑板]：

argument和argumentative中间都是没有e的哦！

如果跟朋友聊身边的杠精时，可以这么说：：

xiao biao  is argumentative. 

小编很能杠。

He is an argumentative person. 

他真是个杠精。

Troll [trɒl]

抬杠

Troll原意是指北欧神话中丑恶的侏儒，

做动词时指闲逛或随意浏览。

互联网时代，troll动词多了一个释义就是指抬杠或发布攻击言论。

而名词是指散播负面信息、煽风点火的网民。

举个例子：

Instead of picking fights on the street they are at home, 

trolling people on the internet. 

杠精们不会在大街上惹是生非，

取而代之的是在家以网络暴力损人。

Argue for the sake of arguing 

为争论而争论

For the sake of 是指为了...，，

后加名词，跟for或in order to的意思相近。

举个例子：

We have to stop fighting for the sake of our friendship. 

为了我们的友谊，

我们不能再争吵不休了。

Find fault with someone or something 

鸡蛋里挑骨头，吹毛求疵

Find fault with字面意思是找出他人的错误，

但其实常用于指对他人发表的不公批评和反对意见。

举个例子：

He finds fault with everything I do. 

无论我做什么他都能找到毛病。

Always on the defensive 

必定与之抗争到底

Defensive是指免遭攻击或批评的辩护、防御，

既可做名词也能做形容词，

动词形态为defend。

举个例子：

He smiled, not wanting to put the young boy on the defensive. 

他对那位小男孩微笑，

不想让他处于戒备/防御状态。
