它指的是人、动物或植物的死去、失去生命。

died

v. 死亡，枯萎

Died is the past tense and past participle of the verb die,

and thus indicates the action of dying.

died 是动词 die 的过去式和过去分词，

因此表示的是死亡这一动作。

He was the kind of person who died for his beliefs.
