I'd like to talk about a story told by an elderly lady in a culture exhibition. I bumped into her when I saw her calligraphy works which blew me away. I wanted to know more about her and her work, so I couldn’t help but start a conversation with her. She told me that she was once the president of the calligraphy association of ourcity. She had a great liking for Chinese calligraphy since she was five years old. But as the electronic gadgets are swarming into people's life, less and less young people have interest in this time-honored art form. She was in great agony that we are losing this culture. So she came up with the idea of promoting calligraphy. She was thinking out of the box by posting videos of calligraphy and combining the popular memes into the traditional art. She wrote a Chinese poem with calligraphy and had a lecture about the underlying meaning of the poem. Also, she used her followers names to create the unique calligraphy work as a gift for her fans. She adapted the look of the Chinese characters to resemble the specialty of that very city.
