Do older people spend much time on social media? 

No, older adults use significantly fewer digital applications and spend less timeonline than young adults. Some older people are put off using online tools because they see them as being arduous and time consuming. And of course there is also no need for them to spend hours on Wechat to socialize with friends or co-workers. They are more used to communicating face to face. 

4. Are non-social media like television and newspapers still useful? 

While the relevance of TV and printed newspapers has been slowly declining among young generations, seniors still stick to them. They are the most popular ways to get the news for older people like my grandparents. And I don't think TV or newspapers would be totally replaced by social media even in the future since social media has become increasingly popular as a means to spread false narratives or rumors and we need a place where we can get the correct information.
